South Australia Health said the strain of the disease is yet to be identified.

“Multiple people who had close contact with the patient have been identified, and six people have been directed to receive clearance antibiotics,” SA Health said in a statement.

“There have been two cases of invasive meningococcal disease reported in SA to date this year, compared to one recorded at the same time last year.”

SA Health said of the two cases, one was serogroup W.

SA Health reported the case posthumously. He had the serotype W strain of the disease.
