Authorities were called after an unexpected find was made at Moorhen Flats today.
Brisbane City Councillor Fiona Cunningham posted photos of the weapons to her Facebook page.
The weapons, which appear to be two hand guns in pieces and a knife, were found in a metal box.
“We had a special visit from the Queensland Police Service after finding weapons,” Councillor Cunningham said wrote on Facebook.
“So many bags of rubbish were also collected this morning including suitcases, window screens and broken furniture.”
9News contacted Queensland Police for comment on the weapons.
There were more than 900 Clean Up Australia Day events across the state today.
During last year’s clean, plastic made up a third of all rubbish collected, with one of the biggest offenders being single-use plastic bottles.
Bottled water costs roughly $3 dollars a litre. Switching to a reusable bottle with the same amount of tap water costs just one cent.
“It makes sense for our hip pocket and also for the environment,” Urban Utilities spokesperson Anna Hartley told 9News.
