A pupil at Mount Ridley College in Craigieburn is one of a family who have tested positive for the disease.
“The Department of Education are working closely with the school and the principal who has been in touch with the school community last night,” Health Minister Martin Foley said.
“My message to the community is that the Department of Health will contact you if there are any actions that you need to take.
“Unless you have symptoms, in which case as for everyone in the state of Victoria, please get tested immediately.”
He assured the school community that the site was being managed closely and carefully.
He said the school’s work late last night was “fantastic” after the student’s positive test became known.
The student is connected to three others who tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours.
None of today’s five coronavirus cases were in isolation prior to the state’s lockdown yesterday.
The fifth case is from the Port Melbourne Stratton Finance cluster.
That person visited a display home in Mickleham and appears to have infected one of the staff members there.
Thirteen employees at Stratton Finance have now tested positive to coronavirus. They account for more than a quarter of the COVID-19 cases in Victoria at present.
