Police were called to the Pimpama City Shopping Centre just after 8pm to reports of a suspected stolen car being driven into a window.
On arrival, officers were told a person was acting suspiciously inside the adjacent laundromat.
The man took off on foot and was found by officers 20 minutes later going through the drive through of a fast food outlet.
Security guard Wayne Heneker told 9News he came across the man while on his regular patrols.
“Well he looked like he was having a good time. I’ve never seen someone so excted in a laundromat before,” Mr Heneker said.
A 30-year-old man from Oxenford has been charged with one count of drug driving.
He is due to appear in court next month.
