The Zayed Award for Human Fraternity panel stated that the UAE plays a significant regional and international role in inspiring countries throughout the world to resolve their differences based on human fraternity values. Their Majesties King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein and Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan, as well as Haitian humanitarian group FOKAL, were named honorees of the Zayed Award for Human Fraternity on Friday. The 2021 edition was given to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Moroccan-French activist Latifa Ibn Ziaten. The award was given to these two extraordinary people in recognition of their efforts to address some of the world's most pressing socio-cultural and political concerns, as well as their embodiment of the values enshrined in the Document on Human Fraternity.

The jury members said the award embodies the principles of the Human Fraternity Document by encouraging individuals and institutions around the world to promote the document's principles and universal message in exclusive statements to the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on the sidelines of the announcement of the award's 2022 winners. They further stated that the accolade will help the UAE gain international recognition. Former President of Niger Mahamadou Issoufou stated that the award's significance stems from the name it bears. The Human Fraternity Document encourages tolerance, peace, and coexistence in order to create a world where justice and humanity reign supreme. It is also becoming more critical in light of present circumstances, as the globe needs to promote these ideals, he noted.
