A lotto winner in Melbourne’s south-west says she might treat herself to a new vacuum after almost missing out on news of her $852,000 win when she hung up on officials, thinking they were trying to scam her.
Luckily the Altona Meadows woman called TattsLotto back after confirming the numbers on her winning ticket herself.
“Oh my god, I am so sorry. I only just woke up and I thought it must be some kind of scam, so I hung up,” the shocked woman told officials on the phone.
“I checked my ticket online just then and knew I had to call you straight back.
“This isn’t even registering right now. I can’t believe this – I need to take the day to let it all sink in!”
The woman said the win has sped up her retirement plans and she might treat herself to some new jewellery or a new Dyson vacuum.
“We’re in lockdown at the moment, so we can’t do too much to celebrate, but we might get some takeaway and crack open a bottle of wine tonight,” she said.
The woman is one of seven division one winners, each taking home $852,722.91.
She purchased her 18-game auto pick at Central Lotto at Central Square Shopping Centre in Altona Meadows.
Owner Bruce Zheng said he was incredibly excited when he heard he sold a division one winning ticket.
“This is the second division one winning entry we have sold in two months!” Mr Zheng told TattsLotto officials.
“We are so glad to hear our customer’s dreams can come true thanks to this win.
“Congratulations to our winner. We hope this is the beginning of a very bright future.”
The winning numbers in TattsLotto draw 4159 on Saturday were 42, 2, 7, 28, 16 and 30, while the supplementary numbers were 22 and 35.
