A cabinet reshuffle could come as soon as Sunday, moving Attorney-General Christian Porter and Defence Minister Linda Reynolds out of their portfolios.
It would be the second reshuffle in three months, with Scott Morrison fuelling speculation during Question Time today, when he indicated he wasn’t ruling out scaling back Mr Porter’s duties.
It’s thought Peter Dutton could be moved to the Defence portfolio, with Stuart Robert possibly shifted into Home Affairs.
While Mr Porter’s duties could be switched with Employment Minister, Michaelia Cash, who is acting Attorney-General.
Christian Porter is expected to return to work on Monday, after taking mental health leave, following allegations of historical sexual assault.
Linda Reynolds is currently on medical leave, with Marise Payne looking after Defence.
Minister Reynolds went on leave at a time when pressure was mounting over her handling of a rape allegation by her former staffer Brittany Higgins.
