Sarah Al Amiri has been named to a Time magazine list honoring change-makers, according to Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai. After the UAE Minister of State for Advanced Technology was nominated to the Time100 Impact Awards list, Sheikh Mohammed took to Twitter to express his gratitude. People who have “done outstanding work to shape the future of their industries and the world at large” are honored with the award.

“The Emirate’s daughter… as well as my daughter… Sheikh Mohammed wrote in Arabic, “Sarah Al Amiri…” “According to Time magazine, among the 100 most influential people in the world in 2022… We are proud of our young men and women who have made a name for themselves both at home and abroad,” said Ms Al Amiri, chairperson of the UAE Space Agency, who led the country’s 2021 Mars mission. She started her work a decade ago, designing satellites after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from the American University of Sharjah in 2009.
