The UAE’s air defense system has been quite efficient in thwarting recent missile strikes on the country; nonetheless, a top US military officer told the Emirates News Agency (WAM) on Monday that the US will continue to work with the UAE to upgrade the system.

In an exclusive interview, US Central Command Commander General Kenneth F. McKenzie said the US is working with the UAE and other regional and global allies to create more effective measures to block drone assaults even before they are launched.

“We are pleased to see that THAAD [the US-built Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system] has been successfully employed by UAE in the first two combat deployments of that system, so that’s been very good, and I know that it sends a strong message of reassurance to everyone in UAE,” said General McKenzie, who is on an official visit to the UAE. “We will continue to work with UAE to make that system even better in the future,” he added.
