The UAEU’s history and mission, as well as its teaching and research facilities, research institutes, and present research and development activities, were all explained to the delegation. To promote cooperation between UAEU and Australian universities and research institutions, General Hurley and Venamore were met at the UAEU campus by Zaki Nusseibeh, the UAEU’s Cultural Adviser. Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami Al Breiki, Acting Vice Chancellor, Professor Ghaleb Al Hadrami Al Breiki, Acting Provost, Professor Mohammed Hassan Al Qasimi, and Associate Provost for Research, Professor Ahmad Murad, President of the UAE and Chancellor of the UAEU.
During a tour of the campus, the delegation was also greeted by the entire team at the UAEU’s National Space Science and Technology Centre, which is a joint venture between the UAE Space Agency, the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, and the UAE University. Professor Murad explained that the UAEU’s National Water and Energy Centre will host an international conference on ‘Water Resources Management and Sustainability’ at Expo 2020 Dubai in March 2022. “The event recognizes both the UAEU’s fruitful academic partnership with our Australian colleagues, as well as the UAE’s and Australia’s contemporary and common problems in developing, managing, and conserving the world’s finite water resources,” he added. Professor Murad reminded the group that the UAEU’s joint research programs with over 100 different research Australian institutes have resulted in 511 coauthored publications in the last 6 years, as well as 12 ongoing research projects between UAEU and numerous Australian universities.
