At Expo 2020 Dubai on Wednesday, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum met with Pinarayi Vijayan, Chief Minister of the Indian state of Kerala. Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister, and Minister of Finance, attended the meeting. Following the Chief Minister’s welcoming remarks, Sheikh Mohammed praised Indian expatriate community’s contributions to the UAE’s development, as well as bilateral investments in renewable energy, logistics, air transport and food security, as well as the growing investments made by both countries in each other’s economies.
His Highness reaffirmed the UAE’s desire to strengthen the strategic friendship between the two nations through expanding economic and investment cooperation with India. The UAE is the world’s second largest trading partner, while India is the world’s third largest trading partner and the Arab world’s largest. With the UAE’s ability to create a favorable environment for foreign investment, a supportive legislative framework to protect these investments, and a productive base for international companies to establish their headquarters, Sheikh Mohammed added, the two countries’ partnership could be strengthened in many ways.
