The 22nd Conference of Arab Culture Ministers, hosted by the UAE Ministry of Culture and Youth in partnership with the Arab Educational, Cultural, and Scientific Organization (ALECSO), began on Sunday with the attendance of 18 ministers in charge of cultural matters from throughout the Arab world. “The 22nd session of the conference is significant as we look into the duties to adopt the strategies to fulfill our cultural agenda,” Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth and Chair of the 22nd session, said. The pandemic’s problems over the last two years have highlighted the relevance of the cultural and creative sectors in accomplishing long-term development goals.”
The minister highlighted that the UAE has published a scientific report on the status and future of the Arabic language, and urged that it analyze the findings of talks and studies on the language’s preservation and promotion in order to develop cooperative measures to draw worldwide attention to it. “Arab young are the future, and cultural institutions want to help them accomplish their objectives and aspirations.” The UAE has proposed a conference between ministers and Arab youth, along with ALECSO, to foster communication between decision-makers in the cultural sector at the Arab level, in order to ensure the success of any Arab cultural project.”
