The late Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan was instrumental in establishing the UAE as a shining example of compassion and kindness by reaching out to the world’s less fortunate with a spirit of charity and tolerance. The Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD), which was created in 1971 and has been driving that vision, has helped to define it.
Sheikh Khalifa, who carried on the late Sheikh Zayed’s ethos of tolerance and giving, was the driving force behind the Fund, which helps impoverished countries throughout the world achieve sustainable development. Mohammed Saif Al Suwaidi, director-general of the ADFD, said the Emirates News Agency (WAM) that the UAE and the globe had lost a knowledgeable leader who committed his life to helping his country and continuing the renaissance began by the late Sheikh Zayed. According to him, the UAE has become a worldwide and local leader in sustainable development.
