The Arab League (AL) condemned Israel’s ongoing systematic aggression against Palestinians in the occupied territories on Wednesday. The Cairo-based pan-Arab organisation said in a statement the Israeli government was responsible for aggression against Palestinians in Jenin and other parts of the occupied Palestinian territories.
The Arab League denounced Israel’s massive security campaign that has been going on for days against the Palestinians. Since the beginning of January 2022, a large number of deaths, injuries, and arrests of over 1,100 Palestinians have taken place.
The Arab League described the current Israeli military operations as an “open war on the occupied Palestinian territories, including Jerusalem.” It further urged all countries and international bodies to take measures to pressure Israel to immediately stop aggression against the Palestinians in the occupied Palestinian territories. It also said that ending the Israeli occupation is the only way to bring peace to the region.
It further denounced the serious Israeli escalation against defenceless Palestinian people in Jenin, Jerusalem and other occupied Palestinian territories. The recent Israeli attack in Jenin killed several Palestinians. The attack came in response to last week’s attack by a Palestinian gunman in Israel’s coastal city of Tel Aviv, which killed three people.
The Arab Parliament also condemned Israel’s ongoing systematic aggression against Palestinians. The parliament also warned Israel of provoking Muslim sentiments during the holy month of Ramadan. It further said that the storming of the holy shrine hurts the feelings of not only the Palestinian people but also the feelings of the Arab and Muslim worlds. The Arab Parliament is the legislative body of the Arab League.
Last year, repetitive violence against Palestinian worshipers at the al-Aqsa Mosque led to an 11-day war between Palestine and the Israeli regime. At least 260 Palestinians, including 66 children, were killed in the war. The Israeli-Palestinian conflict started after the Israeli occupation of Palestinian territories and the founding of Israel as a state in 1948.
