H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates Airline and Group, was named the Top 50 Travel & Tourism Leaders in the Middle East by Forbes Middle East. The list honors 50 individuals who are driving growth in the Middle East's travel and tourism business, based on their desire to reconnect with the rest of the world. In the first half of the fiscal year 2021/2022, Emirates Airline and Group generated revenue of US$6.7 billion. Furthermore, Paul Griffiths, the CEO of Dubai Airports, was ranked third on the list.
The UAE led this month's list, with 24 of the leaders residing there, followed by Saudi Arabia with 11 and Egypt with four. With 26 entries, the hotel and hospitality industry dominates the list, followed by aviation (17 entries), and tourism (7 entries).
