The ongoing coronavirus pandemic has resulted in a huge fuel crisis all around the world. The crisis is not related to the unavailability of the soaring pricing of the fuel that is making it difficult for the importers to buy.
The president of the United States Joe Biden and the King Salman of Saudi Arabia discussed the issue over a call on Wednesday. The kingdom comes across as one of the biggest players in the fuel arena and it was only time that the US leader spoke to the king.
They reportedly talked about the energy supplies given the soaring fuel prices in countries like Iran and Yemen as well as the rest of the region.
The White House confirmed the discussion saying the two leaders have agreed to be committed towards ensuring the stability of global energy supplies.
Salman’s opinion on the matter holds a lot of substance given the fact he heads the largest crude exporter in the OPEC oil production group. He also talked about maintaining stability in the petroleum markets.
As per the state agency SPA, the Saudi leader also poured emphasis on managing the supply as per the agreement of the OPEC with allies including Russia, a group known as OPEC+.
It was only last week when the OPEC+ gave its nod for moderate rise in oil output as the group was struggling to meet the existing targets.
For the Biden administration too, it is a matter of huge concern as the congressional elections are nearing and high oil prices could be a threat for them post November.
