According to a senior official, the UAE’s change to a new working week will have no impact on performances and themed events previously planned for Expo 2020 Dubai. Because these are often part of larger worldwide tours, shows previously announced for the coming months at the world expo will not change their itineraries. However, attendees to the international spectacle should expect additional additions to the already jam-packed schedule. On Tuesday, the UAE declared that federal government employees would work full days Monday through Thursday and half days on Friday. As on January 1, the new weekend will be Saturday and Sunday. The governments and schools of Abu Dhabi and Dubai have also stated that they will follow the new schedule. On Sunday, January 2, the UAE’s newest public holiday, plans are being made for extra celebrations at the Expo site.

“In terms of the weekend, we will follow UAE directions, but we haven’t modified anything yet,” Sconaid McGeachin, senior vice president of communications, told The National. “Announcements for January 2 will undoubtedly be made.” The theme weeks on tourism, health, food, agriculture, and water, which run from January to March, will run as planned, with speakers and events planned. “We will keep the thematic weeks from Sunday to Saturday when the weekend changes since it is a busy programming every day and it lasts for a week,” she said.
