At ‘World Space Week,’ part of 2020 Expo Dubai, Israel and the UAE signed a historic space exploration and cooperation deal. Orit Farkash, Israel’s Minister of Science, Technology, and Space, and Sarah Al Amiri, UAE’s Minister of State for Advanced Technology, inked the historic agreement at Expo 2020’s World Space Week in Dubai this week.

Two more specific collaboration projects were signed with the umbrella agreement: one on the “Beresheet 2” lunar mission and the other on significant scientific research based on the Israeli-French satellite “Venus” and its data. Israel’s second attempt at launching a lunar mission is the Beresheet 2. The first, dubbed “Beresheet” after the Torah’s first word, which means “in the beginning,” was launched in 2019 with the objective of landing on the moon’s surface, making Israel only the fourth country on the planet to do so.
