The UAE has initially started hosting and sheltering Afghan families, particularly women and children, on the orders of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces. The UAE will take all necessary possible measures to provide them with care and social assistance while on Emirati land. His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s initiative aims to provide these families with safety and dignity.
Using its national planes and airports, the UAE has supported the repatriation of around 39,827 Afghans and international nationals from Afghanistan. In light of recent events in Afghanistan, the UAE’s humanitarian and rescue aid exemplify the ideals laid out by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed, which underlie global collaboration and solidarity in times of distress.
