The prime minister has said a public inquiry into the UK government’s handling of the coronavirus crisis will start in the spring of 2022. ‘The state has an obligation to examine its actions as rigorously and as candidly as possible,’ Johnson told parliament.
Addressing families who had hoped for the inquiry to start sooner, he said there was the possibility of another winter resurgence and it would be wrong to take up ‘huge amounts of officials’ time’
